Religious Education
A religiously literate pupil at The Ridge will ask and seek to answer significant and reflective questions about a range of religions. Through a wide exploration of these, they will develop a deeper understanding of a range of religious traditions and will consequently understand, appreciate and respect the different cultures in today’s society. They will be excited and stimulated by the great variety of approaches other cultures have offered in response to the profoundest questions asked by humanity of the world. Their overall cultural literacy will be increased to enable them to engage and enjoy and understand the wider world and its peoples more fully.
RE at The Ridge is taught through the South Gloucestershire Agreed Syllabus. During their time in KS2, children learn about Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism and Humanism. Three strands of Believing, Expressing and Living permeate the curriculum, which is designed cyclically in order to ensure that learning in RE is well embedded by the end of Key Stage 2.
